We search broadly and listen deeply to bring the world’s best curated internet radio together under one roof.
Every minute, we check what’s playing (the show, and if available, artwork, song, artist, DJ, genres, description, listener count) and publish it across our One Radio platforms.
Every 15 minutes (for freshly added stations) or every few hours (for stations we’ve already gotten a good picture of), we listen in to what’s playing using either the station-provided song info or, if that’s not available, a Shazam-like service called ACRCloud. We then look up the song across a handful of databases (e.g. Last.fm) to gather information about its genre, release year, and obscurity (e.g. how many plays does this track have?) and record it. You can see this information at one.radio/dna and summarized for each station by clicking the “ⓘ” button or “DNA” in the app.
Our goal in tracking this information is equally to help inform your discovery as it is for us to keep our fingers on the pulses of the stations we feature and the ever-evolving character of the top echelon of internet radio as a whole.
We hope you hear something that makes you fall in love with the form the way we have.
Please email brayden@one.radio, message us on Instagram (@one.radio), or request a station through our form.
Enter your Last.fm username and we’ll match what you listen to against everything we’ve heard on the stations we track.
